Neon light has always been something that I’ve found hauntingly beautiful when displayed
independently in vacant, dark spaces. The glowing pink cursive has been designed as a
reflection ambigram to read “Pride,” and when seen reversed in the mirror, to read as “love”.
Through this method, the viewer is in control of transforming the piece for themselves and
translating their own pride into self-love through the means in which they see the artwork. The
use of pink is a reference to the reclamation of the colour historically used to identify queer
people. This intention is to bring light to introspection, and amplify the power of self-love.
Queer people deserve to feel empowered, and possess pride and love for the person we see in
the mirror every day.
